108 forests addresses today’s outdated forestry and land ownership models. Under a perpetual purpose trust we save forests from deforestation, degradation, or damaging logging. Through the acquisition or donation of natural landscapes, we transform the buying and selling cycle into a conservation and regeneration cycle where forests are not to be re-sold and used for unethical purposes. Our long-term ambition is to show how forests are profitable without cutting or degrading them. To do so, we separate the concept of ownership from land-use and transfer the land’s working right to people who want to become forest caretakers. Forest caretakers will be awarded leases for creating positive businesses on and for the protected forest areas. The business areas include, amongst others, eco-tourism, carbon offsetting, hardware/IOT/software solutions for forestry management, governing systems, and food/agriculture systems.
