Mindreader has a mission to provide audiovisual and education opportunities which help the public (particularly those who are low- and moderate- income), medical professionals, and others better understand mental health. We serve our mission through core activities which address: (1) Mental health audiovisual literacy; (2) Mental health advocacy; (3) Mental health research; and (4) Mental health literacy events. (1) Mental Health Audiovisual Literacy Mindreader creates and disseminates audiovisual mental health literacy education and instruction materials. This includes the development of books, videos, a learning management platform, and other media, as identified pursuant to available funding opportunities. This also includes commissioning art, music, films, and media projects created by collaborators. (2) Mental Health Advocacy Mindreader engages in mental health advocacy work through which it convenes and organizes leadership from various sectors as well as individuals wanting to serve as advocates for mental health. (3) Mental Health Research Mindreader conducts research (as an organization as well as in collaboration with other organizations/researchers) which helps advance the understanding of mental health and mental illness treatment. (4) Mental Health Literacy Events Mindreader conducts mental health literacy events which consists of lectures and presentations at medical schools, community centers, schools, professional environments, and other areas to facilitate a better community-wide understanding of mental health.
