Baptistkirken i Danmark
www.baptistkirken.dkBaptists do not believe "anything else" about Jesus other than what other Christians do, but we place great emphasis on the fact that faith must always be based on what Jesus said and did. We believe we hear God's own voice in Jesus' words We believe that Jesus' actions show us who God is We believe that Jesus is peoples way to salvation We believe that Jesus' example shows us how to live Because Jesus resurrected, we know that that there is hope for the world The key question Most, if not all Christians, will say yes to all of this. But for Baptists, the most important question is not really whether we "believe" in all this about Jesus and God - in an intellectual or emotional sense - but whether we are willing to be "disciples" or disciples of Jesus. The first thing Jesus did when he began his work was to select some disciples - or disciples, as they are called in the Bible. They went with him and learned from him. He taught them to forgive and to love their neighbor as well as their enemy. He showed them that it may be necessary to suffer for the truth. After his resurrection, Jesus told all those who had followed him that they should create a movement throughout the world: "Go out and make all nations my disciples," ie. make them disciples of Jesus!
