Panjab University, Chandigarh is one of the oldest Universities in India. It was established in 1882 at Lahore (now in Pakistan). University has 75 teaching and research departments and 15 Centres/Chairs for teaching and research at the main campus located at Chandigarh. National Assessment and Accredited Council (NAAC) graded Panjab University as ‘UNIVERSITY OF EXCELLENCE’ with ‘A’ grade. The University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET-Hoshiarpur) is 2nd Engineering Department of Panjab University after UIET, Chandigarh. It has delivered excellent results in a short span of time. It is the only engineering institute situated outside PU, Chandigarh. The institute produces engineering graduates in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical and Information Technology, which draws admissions from the top 10 % of those appearing in JEE Mains conducted at the national level and the counselling is held by the Joint Admission Committee (JAC), PU, Chandigarh. It has been awarded the title of ‘IBM-Centre of Excellence’, holds a MoU with TEXAS Instruments and Campus Connect programme with Infosys. The credibility of the institute is apparent through the recruitments of students by the top-notch companies like TATA Motors, Accenture, Dell, Tech Mahindra to name a few. Numerous accolades won by students at technical as well as cultural fronts spanning from intricate robotic events to fervent street plays and dance competitions conducted by the various esteemed institution like IIT’s, NIT’s, etc present the versatility of the students.
