Vision: A truly independent media landscape that advances fundamental human rights, good governance and accountability in West Africa. Mission: To deploy investigative journalism, open data and civic technology tools for the advancement of fundamental human rights, good governance and accountability in West Africa. Mandate: - Building the capacity of the media to become more informed, innovative and competitive institution well positioned as a central player in today’s knowledge societies and economies, and able to provide appropriate interface for civil society and governance institutions. - Up-skilling civil society and government institutions for appropriate engagement of the media and utilization of other communication resources. - Advocating media and communication rights and the expansion of media resources to all sections of the population. - Conducting groundbreaking investigations on corruption, human rights abuses, abuse of power and due process among others. Programmes: - ADVOCACY: promote press freedom, freedom of expression, net neutrality and media plurality. - CAPACITY BUILDING: train journalists, civil society and government institutions on various components of development communication. - CIVIC TECHNOLOGY: develop civic tools to track, monitor, report and present information useful for decision making by governments and citizens. - INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM: conduct fact-based and data-driven investigations to hold government and institutions to account at all times. - OPEN DATA: deploy data analysis and its tools to increase access to public and hidden data within government institutions.
