In 1866, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word arrived in Galveston with a mission to heal "the sick and infirm of every kind." In 1887, they expanded their reach with St. Joseph's Infirmary, Houston's first general hospital. Today, CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare continues that original mission by providing primary care and related services to underserved and uninsured communities of all faiths, ages and cultures in the Greater Houston and Galveston areas. Our goal is to care for the whole person - mind, body and spirit. Our seven programs address primary care and mental health care for children and adults through stationary clinics, mobile clinics and school clinics, in addition to attending the physical and mental needs of Galveston's homeless. Our programs include CHRISTUS St. Mary's Clinic, CHRISTUS Point of Light Clinic, CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics, CHRISTUS School Clinics, CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread, CHRISTUS Operation San Jose, and CHRISTUS Learning Center.
