Sabanci University Gender and Women’s Studies Center of Excellence (SU Gender) is a research center based in Istanbul, Turkey, aiming to create a bridge between academia and civil society. The activities of the center are geared towards eliminating all forms of discrimination including gender identity, sexual orientation, language, ethnic background, class or faith; creating discussion and sharing environments that support pluralism, creativity, equality and solidarity. SU Gender centers itself on feminist principles and includes intersectionality as a key point in its research, projects, and other activities. The center aims to make academic knowledge available and accessible for all, and to strengthen the flow and exchange of knowledge between the worlds of academia, civil society, art, politics, and everyday life. SU Gender develops joint research projects with researchers and universities both in Turkey and internationally on various topics, including education, memory, space, gendered violence, militarism, peace, women’s political participation, literature, etc.
