Dean Realty Co. evolved from several realty company mergers dating back to 1958. Founded by Lester M. Dean, Sr., the company’s development history began with construction of the Downtown Industrial Park on Terrace & Mercier in KCMO. The complex was renamed Downtown Business Park in 2008. Dean Realty Co. owns Dean's Downtown Underground, the first subterranean development of its kind in America. Located directly beneath Downtown Business Park on 31st Street, the 1.2 million sf complex contains 804,000+ sf of leasable office and industrial space. The Underground presents affordable space in the greenest environment achievable and features an economical residential/commercial storage option, SmartSTORAGE KC. Cambridge Business Park was developed in 1977, expanding over the next 15 years to five business centers and an office building. In 2004 Cambridge Crest I became the Park's first Missouri-side project. In 2008, an 89,555 sf headquarters for RiteMade Paper was completed. Master planning envisions retail, office, restaurants, hotel, residential and historic renovation of the Imperial Brewery. In 1991, a 16,500 sf building was completed for SISCO Equipment at I-435 and Truman Road. Dean acquired the site and adjoining 105 acres. The location offers dynamic development opportunities. Dean Realty’s family-owned portfolio has grown to 2,100,000 square feet. The company is now led by Walt Clements, President and Chief Executive Officer, and the Dean Team.
