Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado, claims to be the World's Highest Botanical Garden at 8,200 ft. in the Rocky Mountains. It's Mission is to " deepen the understanding and promote conservation of alpine plants and fragile mountain environments". The Gardens are open dawn until dusk year round, with snow on the ground November through April. A new Education Center opening in July 2015 will provide year round educational exhibits and programs.
