Boingboing Resilience Research & Practice
www.boingboing.org.ukWorking with and alongside children, young people, families and adults exposed to social disadvantage and inequalities is at the heart of our work. Boingboing is a social enterprise which aims to model and promote co-produced resilience research and practice that seeks to challenge and change social inequalities. The Boingboing community includes young people, families and adults with experience of social disadvantage and inequalities, as well as supportive academics and practitioners. In fact, we all find the resilience-based approaches we’ve developed useful to help us get through tough times. Boingboing provides opportunities to learn about resilience. We run regular Resilience Forums, develop Resilience Frameworks, books and other materials for anyone to use, and offer training and talks on resilient approaches to life’s challenges. We are involved in several research projects, including some on schools or ‘academic’ resilience. We offer free resources to help schools develop academic resilience which Professor Angie Hart produced with Lisa Williams, with input from various other individuals and organisations, especially YoungMinds, Hove Park School and Eleanor Smith School, which can be downloaded from our website. As well as working with individuals and groups, we also try to do our bit to tackle unfair practices by governments and other big players. Our work is strongly rooted in a social justice agenda, and we do not believe that resilience promotion should be about maximising the survival of the fittest. Boingboing loves collaborating with people to encourage and co-develop resilience research and practice. The majority of our work is with children, young people and families, and those involved in supporting them. However, the more we disseminate our ideas, the more we find adult practitioners wanting information about how to make resilient moves to tackle real life situations too and we are also interested in developing practitioner resilience.
