Plan International Hong Kong
www.plan.org.hkAbout Plan International Established in 1937, Plan International is one of the world's leading development organisations, specifically focusing on children. Headquartered in the U.K., Plan is working in 57 developing countries concentrating on making lasting improvements to quality of life in the areas of health, education, environment and livelihood with funding from 21 fundraising offices. Many girls in the developing world face double discrimination because of their gender and age, leaving them to languish at the bottom of the social ladder. Hence, Plan International strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Hong Kong Office Plan International originally operated a field office in Hong Kong from 1959 to 1973, helping nearly 12,000 local children and their families by providing support in education, food, healthcare, housing and career counselling. Plan International re-opened its Hong Kong office in July 2009, giving the Hong Kong community the chance to give back by supporting child development programmes in Mainland China, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Plan International Hong Kong has extended its work to local community in recent years with a focus on safeguarding children’s best interest so they can grow up equally, are being valued and cared for, and free from discrimination, fear or violence. Plan is independent, with no religious, political or government affiliations.
