Oregon Health Care Interpreters Association
www.ohcia.orgAbout us: Founded by interpreters and dedicated to creating positive changes for the Pacific Northwest's diverse populations. We focused on three areas of impact: Affordable health care interpreter training - We offer a low cost training program that meets the Oregon Health Authority’s 60 hour requirement for getting certified or qualified as a health care interpreter. Support for Oregon Certification & Qualification - In Oregon today, health care interpreters (HCIs) face the barriers of confusing information and lack of support when trying to get certified or qualified. We eliminate both by providing free assistance and resources. Industry partnership and change - We are in active partnership with the Oregon Health Authority, Language Line, the Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine, and others to bring about collective impact for health care interpreters. We also host an annual conference with industry and community leaders to inspire change. Mission - To advance the Health Care Interpreter (HCI) profession to improve health outcomes for our community. Vision - A highly skilled HCI community that is economically successful and valued as an integral member of the health care team.
