Able Child Africa

www.ablechildafrica.org

Able Child Africa is a UK registered charity that works to secure equal rights for children and young people with disabilities in Africa. We are the leading UK charity working solely to improve the lives of children with disabilities in Africa, working with some of the most vulnerable children in the world. Working alongside local partners in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Malawi we deliver high-quality programmes that protect, educate and empower children with disabilities, breaking down barriers to inclusion so they can fulfill their potential. We fight for the rights of children with disabilities, creating change on a national scale by influencing governments and other agencies with our lessons learnt. And we strengthen local organisations on the ground to ensure they can deliver lasting change in the countries where we work. We have over 35 years’ experience working with local partners across Africa to improve the lives of children with disabilities. Initially founded in 1984 as the Uganda Society for Disabled Children (USDC), we became Able Child Africa in 2007 and began supporting local partners other countries in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Malawi. We now use the expertise we have built up over the last 35 years to make lasting change for children with disabilities across Africa.
