Independent product design studio Tetsu Kataoka After working as a Chief Art Director at Sony Design Center designing the VAIO, Walkman, Handycam and so on, I established the Kataoka Design Studio and became a freelance designer. Since becoming independent, I have been designing products for leading international brands such as Samsung. I receive numerous awards for my designs each year; these include not only the Japanese Good Design Award, but also the "gold award" in the iF product design award, which is an internationally-respected German award, and the "best of the best" in the red dot design award.
