Empowerment Squared @ Mac intends to provide a ‘hub’ for existing and interested Empowerment Squared volunteers who are McMaster students. Empowerment Squared is a charitable organization in Hamilton whose goal is to ensure that marginalized, newcomer, and refugee youth are given the opportunity to succeed in school regardless of their past experiences and family’s economic status. They provide programs such as Homework Circle and E-Movement, which give participants free access to after-school homework help and recreational activities. Empowerment Squared @ Mac supports the McMaster volunteer base of Empowerment Squared and provides them with additional opportunities to build community and improve the educational experiences of students involved in Empowerment Squared programming.
