Event format The Open space format was born out of the observation that participants at conferences consistently said that the most valuable time they had and where they gained the most, was from discussions they had with other participants at a break, over coffee or “in-between” the official program. Open-space is a whole conference planned as one long coffee break where you talk to people you enjoy talking to, about topics you care about, and for as long as it’s interesting.
