Hubbub is a tech-enabled rental platform where users can rent items like microwaves, cookware, and tools for anywhere between a few days to a full year and have the items delivered right to their door! Through Hubbub, consumers are able to rent from an inventory of high-quality items acquired from large secondhand channels, keeping items out of landfill. Our users can then rent these items for temporary periods of time and have the items delivered right to their door. The items are then later picked up by Hubbub at the end of the rental period. By using Hubbub, users avoid the high costs and hassles of moving and storing loads of personal belongings and can simply access what they need for as long as they need! This circular-economy model extends the useful life-spans of consumer items, reduces the demand for the manufacturing and shipping of new items, and helps popularize sustainable consumer habits. Hubbub is building the technology that allows us to deliver an enjoyable marketplace experience and maintain low-cost and efficient operations on the backend. We are currently validating our growth strategy with two beta operational hubs based around the Columbia and NYU community. These pilots will allow us to better understand the preferences of our target customer, engage support from the universities, and build traction that will help us replicate our model throughout NYC.
