The Ojai Foundation
www.ojaifoundation.orgThe mission of The Ojai Foundation is to foster practices that awaken connection with self, others, and the natural world. Council, the practice of listening and speaking from the heart, is at the core of all we do. We envision a thriving, peaceful planet filled with community, connection, and care. Inspired by the timeless wisdom of traditions from around the world, The Ojai Foundation brings practices of connection and wholeness to our contemporary world. For over four decades, The Ojai Foundation’s educational sanctuary in Ojai, California, has inspired, transformed, and nurtured thousands. We host over 3,500 students and adults each year through our rites of passage programs, council trainings, nature immersion retreats, and seasonal celebrations. Modeling and teaching mindful land stewardship has been an on-going focus of The Ojai Foundation through our earthen and ecological buildings, water retention earthworks, and keen attention to beauty and simplicity. Council, a circle practice that fosters attentive listening and authentic, heart-felt sharing, is at the core of all our offerings. Inspired by storytelling traditions from many cultures, the practice of council supports organizations and communities around the world — from social justice nonprofits and public schools in Southern California, to prison yards throughout California, to Israeli and Palestinian groups in the Middle East.
