www.nustairworks.comNUST Airworks is an undergraduate student team at NUST PNEC that specializes in designing and manufacturing UAV systems. The team comprises electrical and mechanical engineering students from 1st to 4th year spread across five departments: automation, communications, marketing, mechanical and software. NUST Airworks has been a regular competitor in IMechE's annual UAS Challenge, held in the U.K, since 2018. In 2019, the team won the Grand Champions title along with two technical and two marketing awards, grabbing five out of eight available awards. The IMechE UAS Challenge is a university-level competition that challenges students to design, build and fly a fully autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. In a nine-month project cycle, teams are judged on their design, project approach and technical reporting. The final scoring is done based on the UAV's performance in timed rescue simulation trials. Teams are also challenged to pitch their project as a commercial venture through business presentations. NUST Airworks has also established itself as a winning team in numerous national level competitions in Pakistan. It is active in mentorship programs for new student teams and young students. The team aims to develop the next generation of world-class engineers and put Pakistan on the map of UAV development.
