Dirt N Nails Farms Inc.
www.dirtnnails.orgDirt’N’Nails is an independent organization committed to meeting the spiritual, physical, and mental needs of the homeless and distressed, the hungry, the unemployed, and those in spiritual crisis, focused on programs that are for the betterment of the communities it touches. This non-profit organization seeks to provide low-income and no-income families a chance to grow their own food each summer in cooperation with food banks by teaching urban gardening techniques and supplying plants and supplies to get them started; to provide educational and mission opportunities to schools, churches, organizations, and individuals; to provide temporary shelter, nourishment, and work to homeless families in a transitional process of getting back into the workforce, back into society, and back to living; and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all those served. Dirt'N'Nails is in the planning stages, having achieved 501c3 status August, 2011. Our intention is to purchase the first small farm (100 to 200 acres) and start construction and planting for 2012, sheltering one family at a time until we can help many find the counseling, career training, and help they need to keep going in these hard times. Make no mistake, these times have been hard for a lot longer than this particular recession. In Denver alone, 2008 saw over 200 people homeless who also reported being homeless with their family. That is well over 200 too many.
