The Memphis Chapter was founded in 1952 when about 10 professionals met at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis. Today, more than 65 years later, members meet throughout the year for programs, professional development seminars, awards programs and socials. PRSA, headquartered in New York City, is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. The society's more than 19,000 members represent business and industry, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations. Since it was chartered in 1947, PRSA has continued to provide a forum for addressing issues affecting the profession and the resources for promoting the highest professional standards. It offers unequaled opportunities for improving skills and gaining knowledge, as well as for the exchange of information and experiences with other public relations professionals.
