www.seasongoodfoundation.comThe Murray and Agnes Seasongood Good Government Foundation was established by the Cincinnati civic reformer and his wife to continue their lifelong devotion to the causes of good local government, the merit system in selecting public employees, and citizen participation in public affairs. Murray and Agnes Seasongood thus continue to provide to all public-spirited citizens an indomitable and inspired leadership in causes to which they dedicated their lives. The Foundation is overseen by a 12-person board including prominent lawyers, academics, and civic leaders. The Foundation maintains a close relationship with the National Civic League, the successor to the Municipal League, supporting selected national programs that further the good government cause. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to further good government with special emphasis on good local government in Cincinnati, in Hamilton County, in the State of Ohio, and elsewhere, and exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. This is accomplished by: * sponsoring internships in local government for college students interested in careers in local government administration; * establishing research projects and other efforts to institute, sustain, improve and enlarge operations of an efficient non-partisan merit system for governmental employees in Cincinnati, in Hamilton County, and in the State of Ohio, and to establish and further a merit system in the selection and appointment of judges, judicial appointees and administrative judicial officers and employees in the State of Ohio. * promoting citizen participation and educational programs for government reform. * conducting a program for college visitors to bring to the attention of students and faculties career opportunities in local government, stimulate interest in municipal service as a professional career, and to increase the awareness of citizenship responsibilities.
