www.tonkadale.com

Tonkadale Greenhouse has called Minnetonka home since 1947. The original owner, Robert Anderson, started the business as a breeder of specialty African violets. At that time, the business consisted of one 18’ x 100’ structure. The business was purchased by Bill and Shirley Maruska in 1978. The greenhouse facility was completely rebuilt in 1998 and the business began to grow. In April of 2016, Jessie Jacobson (Bill and Shirley’s granddaughter) purchased Tonkadale. Jessie lives in Minnetonka with her husband Luke, two young children and dog, Bucky. Jessie loves to garden with her family and invites the community to enjoy her gardening journey as well. She is passionate about getting children involved in gardening! Tonkadale is located in a quaint residential community. Longtime customers remember the quirkiness of the “old” Tonkadale, but embrace the new Tonkadale and look forward to the future. Newcomers are delighted by the size and scope of the greenhouse and leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Upon entering Tonkadale, you are surrounded by the colors of the season. Tonkadale is open year-round. During our peak season, the greenhouse is filled from floor to ceiling with a colorful array of fresh plants just waiting to surprise and delight. We go to great lengths to offer the newest and most outstanding varieties of annuals, perennials and foliage plants each year. Our customers’ success in the art of gardening is Tonkadale’s mission. At Tonkadale, customers are treated like neighbors and friends. We offer complimentary coffee, bottled water and freshly popped popcorn throughout the year. We support our local community. Tonkadale is a proud supporter
of the ICA Food Shelf and Loaves and Fishes through donations of seeds and vegetable transplants. Our Grow and Give Program which supports the ICA food shelf generates thousands of pounds of produce for those who need it most. The Loaves and Fishes Farm for All one acre farm raises produce that goes directly into making thousands of fresh meals daily for those who need it most. Tonkadale is proud to be a partner in growing fresh, local produce for those who need it most.
