LSB is competing in the National Women’s Basketball League (LBF) and organizes the biggest basketball league in Brazil. Created in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro`s suburbs to offer the basketball players and teams more tournaments to play, the LSB championships are now played in 16 cities of 3 states, with 136 teams and 1900 athletes, with an average of 700 games per year. In 2019, LSB decided to enter LBF, the Professional Basketball Women`s League of Brazil, with its best female adult players, and brang back to Rio de Janeiro`s women`s pro baskeball team after 8 years without a team representing the state.
