GIE

www.gie.eu

GIE members are active in transmission, storage and regasification via LNG terminals. They work and innovate with infrastructures for renewable and low-carbon gases, including hydrogen and biofuels. Together, they take action today to enhance decarbonisation in a sustainable and inclusive way with the existing gas infrastructure and its operators' innovations. Gathering around 70 members from 27 European countries, GIE perfectly embodies the multiple transitional decarbonisation pathways of the EU regions. The association’s vision is that by 2050, the gas infrastructure will be the backbone of the new innovative energy system, allowing European citizens and industries to benefit from a secure, efficient and sustainable energy supply. GIE's role is to engage a dialogue with a broad and eclectic ecosystem of energy leaders to share the messages of its members. Among them, we count the European Institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, Council of the European Union) as well as the European bodies of regulators (ACER, CEER) and many other stakeholders. A bit of History: GIE was formally established on 10 March 2005. It is a legally independent and non-profit association with official statutes. GIE's structure: Torben Brabo is the President of GIE, and Boyana Achovski is GIE's Secretary General. The secretariat is based in Brussels (Avenue de Cortenbergh 100). GIE is an umbrella organisation of 3 subdivisions: • GTE – Gas Transmission Europe • GLE – Gas LNG Europe • GSE – Gas Storage Europe It has 4 areas: • New Gases • System Operation Development • Natural Gas
