Missouri Eating Disorders Association
www.moeatingdisorders.orgThe Missouri Eating Disorders Association’s mission is to bring hope, compassion and understanding to the fight against eating disorders. We are committed to providing education, resources and advocacy that will change the conversation around eating disorders. We strive to bring understanding and support to those treating or affected by this terrible and serious disease. Founded in 2003 as the Dahlia Partnership, Kimberli McCallum, MD and a group of dedicated board members began providing support to those who are struggling. It became apparent that there was a great need for this organization as a resource guide, family support system and educational program. Dahlia became a NEDA Network member and continues to work with NEDA. In 2012, The Dahlia Partnership became the Missouri Eating Disorders Association (MOEDA) with an expanded board and renewed vision on how to impact the issues surrounding eating disorders. The Real Skinny: Professional Development Workshop made it’s debut in 2011 with MOEDA offering this curriculum to train those on the frontlines of early intervention, such as the Physical Education teachers, Coaches and Counselors who teach at middle and high schools. In addition, MOEDA Advocacy efforts have resulted in the MO state legislature passing the first MO Eating Disorders Council, so that the Department of Mental Health can study and provide education and awareness for the disease. Become a Friend of MOEDA! Every dollar contributed to MOEDA will go toward education and advocacy. As an individual or professional Friend, you can stay plugged into what’s happening in the state of Missouri around eating disorders. As a professional friend of MOEDA, you will be placed on its Resources List. We very much value your support and hope that it gives you a simple way to make a difference in what can be a truly dis-empowering disease. With your help, we can bring compassion, hope and understanding to the fight against eating disorders.
