After receiving her business degree from The University of Pennsylvania, Tracey Butler set her sights on the fashion world of New York City and landed every woman’s dream job as a Women’s Sportswear & Couture Buyer for Bergdorf Goodman. During her 7 years at Bergdorf’s, Tracey developed an incredible sense of fashion and trend forecasting by working with American fashion icons; Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren. Tracey's reputation as a fashion forecaster was spreading and she was soon recruited by retail competitor Henri Bendel. During her 3 years at Bendel, Tracey worked as a European Sportswear Buyer with renowned designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Claude Montana and Jean Paul Gaultier. And while her professional dream was being realized, she was also watching her family grow. Sitting front row at New York’s Fashion Week, nine months pregnant, was not ideal. Neither was flying to Paris, leaving three adorable children at home. A career shift needed to happen. Her love of fabrics, design, color and all things beautiful led her to Interior Design. She attended The New York School of Interior Design and was selected to apprentice for coveted interior designer Jeffrey Bilhuber. It is here in Jeffrey’s studio where she worked alongside Thom Filicia (Queer Eye For The Straight Guy) that Tracey fine tuned her skills and developed a unique style all her own. “Serene, calm and sophisticated without being fussy” are words used to describe her design projects. In 2003, b.home interior design studio opened its doors and in 2016, Tracey opened R. Home Interior Design store, featuring local vendors and offering a full library of fabrics, wallpapers, rugs, antiques, home accessories and more. Tracey’s unique talent lies in her ability to juxtapose modern & antique, urban & suburban, luxury & thrifty all to achieve the perfect room for each of her clients.
