Partnership in Practice
www.partnershipinpractice.comIn addition to sex and relationship therapy, Ms. Canavan also offers psychotherapy and medication management for patients with psychiatric disorders including depression, postpartum depression, drug and alcohol addiction, OCD, panic and anxiety disorders, PTSD, eating disorders and dementia. She is experienced with organizational consulting, and possesses excellent clinical, communication and training skills. Ms. Canavan has a Master’s degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing and post-graduate education in the areas of sexual health and sex therapy, as well as psycho-pharmacology, substance abuse, and pain management. My practice is based on a bio-psycho-social model utilizing a flexible integrative approach to the process of psychotherapy. Although insight oriented, supportive and cognitive-behavioral techniques are all important techniques, it is the development of a trusting and collaborative relationship that is fundamentally important to the therapeutic process. Treatment is based on the unique needs of the patient (or family) and the treatment plan is a collaborative effort between the patient and therapist. In addition to individual and couple’s therapy, family and group therapy may be provided. Adjunct therapies such as Twelve-Step-Programs, Nutrition, or Pain Management are utilized as needed
