History Nebraska is a state agency that collects, preserves, and opens to all the histories we share. Founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society, we preserve Nebraska's past in order to build its future. History Nebraska contains multiple divisions that help to accomplish our mission: Archology, Collections, Conservation, Education, Historic Preservation, Publications. Together we find, preserve, interpret, and share Nebraska's history with its people.
