Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy
www.tfed.ngoThe Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy (also known as TFED) develops educational programming connecting the world of international diplomacy to university communities, with an emphasis on transatlantic relations and the university curriculum, with a special focus on the role of the humanities in fostering cultural literacy, preserving cultural heritage, and contributing to global understanding. To carry out its mission, the Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy conducts the following activities in furtherance of its educational exempt purposes: As part of its educational programming efforts, TFED facilitates lectures, classes, and forums that bring internationally recognized diplomats and global leaders to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) and to other partnering institutions, in order to foster collaborative engagement. (1) TFED seeks to bring global perspectives to UNC-CH and other partnering institutions by combining studies rooted in the liberal arts tradition with the experience offered by internationally recognized diplomats and global leaders. (2) TFED will sponsor a Distinguished Diplomat in Residence to support educational programming at UNC and/or other participating universities. (3) TFED seeks to develop educational opportunities in the United Kingdom for UNC students with the ultimate goal of creating a condensed course study-abroad program in the United Kingdom (a Maymester in London, for example), with the possibility of expanding to other countries in the future. (4) TFED will fund these activities through corporate and individual donations, fundraising events, fees for events, and grants.
