Once enacted, the DAT Bill will create the Data Availability and Transparency Act (DATA) scheme to help approved people and organisations to request controlled access to federal government data. The ONDC sits within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The National Data Commissioner will be responsible for the management and oversight of the Data Availability and Transparency Act (DATA) scheme. The National Data Commissioner will regulate and oversee the DATA scheme while promoting the use and reuse of public sector data, enhancing the integrity of the public sector data system and engaging with the community to build trust about use of public sector data.
