Gendercide Awareness Project
www.gendap.orgThe Gendercide Awareness Project is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness of the problem of gendercide (female genocide) and ending it by educating at-risk girls. “Gendercide” refers to the elimination of females in certain parts of the world through selective abortion, gross neglect, needless maternal death, and the inability of older women to access food and shelter. The United Nations Population Fund estimates that currently 117 million women are "missing" (dead) in the world due to these causes. Each year, we lose almost 3.5 million women and girls to gendercide. That's 3.4% of the global female population -- gone. We believe that the best long-term strategy for ending gendercide is to educate at-risk girls in developing countries. Goals: AWARENESS – by every means possible, including newspaper, radio, online media, film screenings, presentations, and a powerful art exhibit that demonstrates the scale of gendercide GIRLS' EDUCATION – We fund education for at-risk girls in six developing countries.
