Launched in 2011, Soben offers something different - a combination of the best consultancy practices, with real life hands on commercial experience of delivering major construction projects. Our founder Scott Smyth started his career in private practice, and then moved to work for contractors as a commercial manager on site managing major projects. Scott found that he struggled to identify organisations to support him that understood the commercial reality of being a major contractor working on high-risk projects with low profit margin. As a result, Scott founded Soben to combine best consultancy practices, with the experience of being a contractor quantity surveyor and the commercial reality of what it takes to deliver a major project. Between 2011 and 2020, Soben successfully expanded throughout the UK from our Glasgow headquarters and a year later moved into USA, Mexico, Chile, and Germany. In January 2022, Soben’s APAC office was launched in Singapore and an Australian office was opened six months later. There are further plans to grow across the APAC region to align Soben’s capability with ongoing client demand. Our worldwide presence now stretches across six continents employing over 200 people as we continue to develop our aggressive growth strategy. 2022 also saw us develop new mission and vision statements along with the introduction of fresh core values of honest, brave, dynamic, and inclusive that really captured the spirit of Soben’s purpose. They identify how Soben acts as a business, the stories we tell, the projects we choose to develop or dispense with, and how we talk to our clients, prospects, suppliers, and each another. It is an exciting time for everything, and everyone associated with Soben as we continue to shake up the construction consultancy industry by shaping the future with integrity.
