Our Mission: An Authentic Food Experience Pier 48 Fish House and Oyster Bar delivers an exceptional dining experience by creating and delivering fresh sea-to-table cuisine using sustainable ingredients sourced from our family fishing boats to embrace our East Coast heritage. Located in Downtown Indianapolis, Pier 48 was created by owner Fred Knipscheer, whose family has been actively fishing off the East Coast for over 150 years. Drawing on his family experiences and passion for fishing, Fred decided to bring a taste of the New England coastline to Indianapolis. Every dish at Pier 48 is from sea-to-table, literally. Because of the Knipscheer family’s fishing background, our seafood is caught daily and shipped to our restaurant from Osier’s Wharf, Fred’s family run fishery in South Bristol, Maine since the 1800s. Not only is family fishing a huge part of Pier 48, but so are the recipes. Growing up, Fred’s family would have regular Sunday dinners with delicious seafood meals. We recreate these real, authentic family experiences at Pier 48 by using many of Fred’s relative’s recipes. Because we’re all about authenticity at our restaurant, we provide a fine-casual dining experience where you can enjoy our exceptional seafood in a comfortable environment. We will bring the East Coast straight to you in the flavor and freshness of our seafood.
