The Kalundborg Symbiosis is a partnership between fourteen public and private companies in Kalundborg. Furthermore, we work closely together with project Biopro. Since 1972 we have developed the World’s first industrial symbiosis with a circular approach to production. The main principle is that a residual flow in one company, becomes a resource in another, benefiting both the environment and the economy. Having a local partnership means that we can share and reuse resources, and that way we save money as well as minimize waste. Currently, the symbiosis counts more than 20 individual streams between 14 different public and private partners: - Novo Nordisk - Novozymes - Kalundborg Refinery - Ørsted - Saint-Gobain Gyproc - Kalundborg Municipality - Kalundborg Utility - ARGO - Avista Green - Kalundborg Bioenergi - Chr. Hansen - Unibio - Meliora Bio - Remilk The Kalundborg Symbiosis is a private association, that is led by a board of directors, a yearly general meeting and a manager employed by the board.
