Here in Cambodia, with its dark, recent history and limited education, international volunteering is almost a fully-fledged industry in itself. Almost everyone comes with great intentions, however, volunteer skills are often insufficient, not successfully matched or not utilised to develop the skills of local people. We believe local people are the leaders of their own communities. Sustainable, long-term impact is possible with the right skills in the right place and where possible, they are passed onto local people.
