afePath is an evidence-supported program, developed by Dr. David Bernstein, that empowers teams working with clients in psychiatric, forensic, addiction, and related settings. It is an integration of Schema Therapy and Positive Psychology principles, applied systemically to teams and organizations. SafePath focuses on clients’ emotional needs, especially attachment and safe limits, and recognizing and working with “modes”, extreme emotional states that dominate a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior at a particular moment. Its goals are to strengthen team functioning, intervene effectively with challenging behaviors, and create ward climates based on safety and connection.
