Georgia Amusement & Music Operators Association - GAMOA

www.gamoa.org

The Georgia Amusement and Music Operators Association (GAMOA) is a dynamic association which has worked diligently over the past thirty-plus years to improve the business atmosphere for the coin-op amusement industry in Georgia. The Association works with local and state government officials for the purpose of educating them on the benefits of the coin-op amusement industry to Georgia, and has found it necessary to effect change in many of the municipal and county ordinances which either outright prohibited or severely restricted the operation of coin-op amusement games. Overall, persistence and determination have opened the state to our industry with only minor opposition remaining on local level. GAMOA is also very active in legislative lobbying activities and in the past has gained passage of legislation allowing non-cash redemption in Georgia and other progressive polices. GAMOA continues to work with operators to continually improve the local ordinance framework in which the industry operates. While the industry in Georgia is practically free of outright prohibition against amusement machines, it occasionally still has to contend with excessively high local business fees, unnecessary limitations on the machines where alcohol is served and unduly burdensome requirements relating to zoning and other special use permits. Due to GAMOA's presence, organizations like the Georgia Municipal Association and the Association of the County Commissioners of Georgia are willing to assist us in our work on the local level.
