The Foundation is being managed by non-medical professionals devoted to the cause of serving the poor and the economically backward. The Foundation has many firsts to its credit - BKF was instrumental in bringing Legislation on Organ Transplant. The Foundation has a State-of-the Art Centre in Bangalore providing affordable treatment on kidney ailments to the poor. Some of the programs that we offer: • BKF offers comprehensive dialysis care at subsidized rates for those in Bangalore - India. • Any patient ends up spending around INR 21,000 upwards per month for maintenance dialysis and BKF is able to bring down this cost by more than 50%. • This is achieved by offering dialysis at our 50 bedded center in Bangalore at subsidized rates. • BKF conducts screening camps for young adults to identify people at risk of CKD. Those identified and counselled on life style changes to avoid Chronic Kidney Disease • BKF is working on increasing awareness on organ donation to increase number of transplants done in India. We are working to start transplants at our partner hospital. We have multiple programs running that are focused on helping the poor in need of support to deal with CKD. Our programs include 1. Subsidized dialysis for the poor- We offer dialysis that can cost anywhere between INR 1500 to INR 2100 per session at 50% the cost. 2. Women only dialysis Unit- We have a dedicated women’s only dialysis unit with women staff. The unit help promote dialysis amongst women. 3. Establishment of new dialysis centre to help more patients- We are setting up a new dialysis centre that will have a capacity of 70 beds to provide low cost dialysis for patients. 4. Prevention screening camps for at risk kids and youngsters.- we conduct screening camps in schools to identify at risk kids and young adults.
