HOPE, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the mission to create stable, affordable homes for people with developmental disabilities. Formed in 1994 by Harbor Regional Center and concerned parents who were worried about their children’s housing future, HOPE envisions a world in which all people with disabilities can live where and with whom they choose in safe neighborhoods at affordable rents. The value of empowering individuals to live as active and contributing members of their communities is at the very heart of HOPE. And there is no doubt—creating opportunities for people to live as independently as possible, and having a place to call home, changes a person’s life. That is why HOPE provides homes that are inclusive within the community and least restrictive in terms of opportunity for our residents to lead full and active lives. Housing models within our portfolio include our Independent Living homes for residents who desire to live with increased self-reliance without the threat of social isolation, our 24-Hr Residential Care homes for residents with increased medical and behavioral needs, and our College to Career homes for students attending community college in pursuit of a certificate or degree who may require additional on-campus and residential supports.
