Leadership Southeast Texas (LSET)

www.lsetx.org

Leadership Southeast Texas (LSET) was founded in 1992 through the efforts of business leaders and chambers of commerce, as well as municipal, county state and federal officials who cared a great deal about the region. Its establishment was significant as it was the first regional leadership program of its kind in The Lone Star State - if not the nation. LSET’s mission is to educate, engage and inspire leaders as regional citizens by promoting a better understanding of the nine counties that comprise Southeast Texas: Galveston (Bolivar Peninsula); Chambers; Hardin; Jasper; Jefferson; Liberty; Newton; Orange; and, Tyler counties. Each program year a class of executive-level leaders from various walks of life and communities explore strategic issues that significantly impact the region. Since 1992, LSET programs have examined the strengths, weaknesses, obstacles and opportunities for economic development, regional unity and a better quality of life for Southeast Texas residents. LSET operates as a 501 (c) (3) regional educational Texas Non-Profit Charitable Corporation. LSET was formally incorporated on July 5th, 2007, and is governed by a Board of Directors. The LSET Advisory Council, a committee of the Governing Board of Directors, is responsible for programming (LSET program, LSET Days in Austin, LSET Day at JASON, Y-LSET Youth Regional Leadership Program, and other alumni initiatives). Thanks to the generosity of the International Safety Training Council (ISTC), the LSET office is housed in ISTC’s facility in Mid-County (address: 3749 US-69, Beaumont, TX 77705).
