SIET started its activities back in 1983. The primary purpose was carrying out safety tests on systems and components for nuclear power plants. Nowadays SIET is a leader in the field of thermal-hydraulic testing for R&D and certification of components intended for both power and process plants. Moreover, SIET acts as a conformity assessment body and operates a calibration laboratory. Being located inside an operating power plant, SIET is allowed to exploit for experimental purposes the fluids used in the production cycle, especially the superheated steam and the demineralized water at a high flow rate.
