PT Radio Gema Karang Putih was established as one form of implementation over community development of FKKSP (Communication Forum of Padang Cement's Employees). March 18th 2000 officially on the air with station call is Classy 103 FM, the actual radio – more than just talk. Then, Mei 11th 2004, Classy FM officially broadcast with the new frequency 103,4 FM. Over all, Classy FM is sort of Executive Radio. Our listeners mostly are Profesionals, Business Owner, Academics, Enterpreneurs, and Housewives. Those are described by Classy Programs thru the day. Since 2009, Classy FM has been featured as a Disaster Alert Radio (straightly appointed by The Local Government) because West Sumatra use to hit by earthquake, and other like; flood, landslides, etc. We've been doing many things; social issues, as public information, disseminating Public Service Advertisements, we also establish cooperation with some International NGOs which concerned in humanity/social/public matters. Besides, we also educate locals more about disaster, preparedness, and everything. Give away motivation thru our weekly special program at the time people starts their day. Radio and its role's as a Public Media and Classy 103.4 FM as a Disaster Alert Radio and its responsibility over society and public services concern of preparedness against Disaster in West Sumatra, in the year of 2010, Classy FM affirms itself as Disaster Alert Radio by establishing some ‘network’ over several Radio Station in West Sumatra. This method will allow disseminating information in sequence from one radio station to another radio station. The network would expand the coverage all over West Sumatra. This local radio network called DSN – Disaster Station Network. Applying DSN would allow maximizing coverage in disseminating information, so than the information would go further to reach people in another area, having the up-to-date local news, lively and real time.
