Voicebox.
www.voiceboxcic.comVoicebox deliver drama workshops and projects for young people across London to explore Masculinity and Mental Health. Within these projects we address a range of associated themes such as feminism, the LGBTQ+ community, relationships, identity, and well being. A lot of our work is with schools and colleges so ages from 6-18. But we also do collaborations and projects with Universities, youth centres, charities and theatres. Our mission is to become leaders in the field of theatre, masculinity and mental health. Through our Creative workshops, we work with communities to challenge all of the negative aspects of masculinity that teaches boys and men to be a certain way, such as they should: ‘always be tough’ ‘never show feelings unless it's anger’ ‘don’t cry’ ‘win at all costs’ ‘be reckless and daring’ ‘be hyper-confident’ ‘dominate the space’. Living up to these things can impact the individual and those around them negatively. Through challenging these aspects of masculinity, we inspire young people to display a different kind of masculinity that is centred around: care, empathy, being able to connect with and share a range of emotions, and being able to form and maintain healthy relationships.
