The Business of Hockey Institute (BHI) is a newly formed, non-profit, "think tank" dedicated to improving the economic viability of professional and amateur hockey through education, research, consulting, and advocacy. Education BHI is responsible for administering and promoting the Certified Hockey Professional (CHP) designation. Toward this end, it works closely with its academic partner, Athabasca University (AU), to develop and deliver hockey-specific courses and seminars. Research & Consulting BHI facilitates and funds research into managerial and business-related aspects of hockey and hockey organizations to provide hockey-related organizations with a competitive edge. Advocacy BHI works on behalf of its members to bring about legal, regulatory, and other changes with the potential to improve the business models of professional and amateur hockey organizations.
