Tomasz Starzewski Design

www.starzewski.com

Tomasz Starzewski’s style is described as sculptural, architectural, tailored and constructed – notorious for colour blocking and embroidery. Established in London in 1982, over the past thirty years Tomasz Starzewski has designed clothes for an impressive array of transatlantic clients, becoming synonymous with timeless elegance and discretion. He counts many members of the British and European royal and political families among his customers. He had his breakthrough in 1989 when Victoria Lockwood, a former fashion model, wore his wedding dress when she married Charles Spencer, brother of Princess Diana. That Autumn, Princess Diana wore the dress that first put him on the map – the Horizontal Pleated Dress. In 1990 he opened his first shop on Pont Street. He then moved to Sloane Street in 1996. He was backed by Asprey for over 7 years until the luxury brand portfolio disbanded. Under Asprey’s tenure, Starzewski expanded a Ready to Wear tailoring distribution which put him on the map as a label in the UK. With them he created a proper tailoring and Ready-To-Wear business and his designs were sold to over 70 shops in the UK. When Asprey was disbanded in 2000 Tomasz then set up back on his own and opened showroom in Stanhope Mews West. In 2004 he moved back to Belgravia to the present shop on Ebury Street. He has always had his own Atelier and manufactured onsite in London. When he took the business back in 2000, he went back to his core business – couture wholesale to America, mainly eveningwear and cocktail dresses. He continued to sell daywear in store however in 2012 due to the growth of his interior design business he decided to focus on Made to Measure.
