The Southeast Asian Service Leadership Network, SEALNet, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to service leadership and working with Southeast Asian communities around the world. SEALNet's mission is to bring service and to promote the spirit of service leadership among Southeast Asian communities in the US and abroad. It accomplishes this by building and nurturing a multi-generational community of service leaders who are committed to serve, equipped to lead, enterprising in action, and plugged into a network of like hearted individuals who are passionate about social development. Members are trained in the twin pillars of service and leadership which SEALNet believes are critical to effecting social development. One major training event is the annual Service Leadership Training Retreat. The first training retreat was run in 2005 at the Wildwood Retreat in Santa Rosa, California. By 2010, SEALNet has organized over 23 international projects, with an all-volunteer staff. There are over 1000 SEALNutters (high school students, college students and mentor professionals) from around the world. SEALNet was founded in 2004 by undergraduate students at Stanford University in collaboration with several key members from the Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative (SALI). In late 2006, SEALNet and SALI merged under the SEALNet brand.
