PUENTES stands for Promotores Unidas para la Educacion Nacional de Tecnologias Sostenibles. Our mission is to educate urban families about food production and access, while stimulating a critical cooperative and positive attitude in at-risk communities throughout the Americas. PUENTES is an organization rooted in food, education, and community based out of Stockton, California. We grant people the opportunity, education, and resources necessary to grow the food they put on their tables. Our approach to development is unique because of the special emphasis we place on motivating people to improve their situation and to promote the technologies they have successfully applied in their own homes and communities. Our vision is to build equity through sustainable technology that fosters social entrepreneurship, education and motivation of at-risk communities in the Americas to break cycles of food insecurity and injustice surrounding inadequate access to healthy whole foods.
