The HEAL Project

www.thehealproject.org

The HEAL Project (THP) is a nonprofit organization operating on a school farm campus and in school classrooms and gardens across San Mateo County Coastside. We believe that everyone should have access to quality food systems education. We see food and how it's grown as central to the health of the individual and the planet. Our mission is to teach kids where their food comes from and why it matters. We envision a world where everyone understands the connection between our food, our health, and our environment. Currently, The HEAL Project operates five programs: • Field Trips at The Farm - Based on Next Generation Science Standards, our curriculum is hands-on and experiential. The farm is a unique living classroom for students to get their hands in the soil while they grow and harvest produce. • Intensive Garden Program - Weekly garden-based science classes connect 2nd and 3rd grade students with their health, the planet and their community. Our programs cultivate environmental literacy during a critical time in student development. Currently offered at Farallone View and Hatch Elementary Schools. • Day Camps - Campers will plant, harvest, cook, hike, discover, craft, laugh and learn during our farm-based camps. Through discovering the wonder of the natural world around us, campers build a deeper connection to nature, themselves and each other. • Distance Learning - THP is offering video lessons and virtual field trips with our food systems curriculum to support teachers and parents during distance learning.
