The firm was founded by Ali Akay in 2011 after a ten-year career as a portfolio manager at SAC, HBK and Goldman Sachs Principle Strategies. Carrhae has 8 investment professionals, a total of 14 employees, including research team members present on-the-ground in China and India to enhance their local knowledge. The investment team generates alpha from a large and persistent dispersion in emerging market equities by investing in highly liquid companies that are unique stories, mispriced or offer secular growth in underpenetrated sectors.
